Niños refugiados: Tema del Papa para Jornada Mundial de los Migrantes :
Menores migrantes, vulnerables y sin voz”, es el tema que el Papa Francisco eligió para la 103° Jornada Mundial del Migrante y el Refugiado que se celebrará el 15 de enero de 2017, informó hoy el Pontificio Consejo para la Pastoral de los Migrantes e Itinerantes.
El dicasterio explicó que el objetivo del Pontífice es llamar la atención sobre los migrantes más pequeños y vulnerables, que son los niños, propensos a ser víctimas de violaciones de sus derechos humanos, especialmente cuando llegan solos a los países de destino.
En su comunicado, el Pontificio Consejo recordó que las migraciones no son un fenómeno solo europeo o mediterráneo, sino que afecta a todos los continentes e involucra a personas que emigran pacíficamente en busca de un futuro mejor, y a familias enteras que se ven forzadas a huir de las guerras que hay en sus países.
“Es necesario garantizar que en cada país los migrantes que llegan a él y sus familias gocen del respeto pleno de sus derechos. La preocupación más grande es la suscitada por la condición de los menores en el contexto de la migración internacional”, indicó el texto.
“Efectivamente, los niños y las mujeres representan las categorías más vulnerables dentro de este gran fenómeno y los menores son los más frágiles, a menudo hasta invisibles, porque carecen de documentos o no tienen quien les acompañe”, añadió.
Como es habitual, la Santa Sede publicará un mensaje pontificio con ocasión de esta jornada.
Esta jornada tiene su origen en la circular “El dolor y la preocupación” que la Sagrada Congregación Consistorial mandó el 6 de diciembre de 1914 a los obispos italianos para solicitar, por primera vez, la institución de una jornada anual de sensibilización sobre el fenómeno de la migración y también para organizar una colecta en favor de las obras pastorales para los emigrantes italianos y la formación de los misioneros de emigración.
La consecuencia de aquella misiva fue la celebración, el 21 de febrero de 1915, de la primera Jornada Mundial del Migrante y el Refugiado.
